When a GP requests for you to have a test the time frame for receiving your result varies as it depends on the test that was requested for. However most results normally take 7-10 days to be processed and sent back to the practice.
It is advised that you contact the practice after 7-10 days to obtain the results of your test. If your test result is not received by the practice within 7-10 days you can contact the service directly where your test was carried out to chase your test result. Normally when a result has been received by the practice, if it’s an urgent result and you have not already had a follow up, you will be contacted by either a member of the reception team or the GP who will arrange for you to have a follow up to discuss your result.
